Further Update December 2011 - Christmas Concert SOLD OUT! Second Concert scheduled 28 December 2011

ABBOTSKERSWELL SINGERS - SECOND CONCERT

The village choir is growing in strength and popularity it seems. The rejuvenated choir under musical director Dr Vanessa Rowe performs its first full concert of Christmas music on Wednesday 14 December in St. Mary's Church Abbotskerswell. Such was the demand for tickets that they were SOLD OUT within 48 hours.

Conscious that this has left many disappointed we have agreed to put on  a second concert so those who missed out can still experience what the choir has to offer. The repeat concert will be on WEDNESDAY 28 DECEMBER 7:30pm in St. Mary's Church Abbotskerswell. Mulled wine/fruit juice and mince pies will be provided as at the original concert. Cost of tickets is £5 (children free) and these will be available from Model Stores and on the door. This should be just the way to while away the post-Christmas blues so do hurry along and get your tickets.

November update

If you have been passing Church House on a Wednesday evenings between 7:30 and 9:00 pm you may have heard a pleasant sound ( at least I hope that is the case) emanating from within. This will be the members of the choir hard at work under our Musical Director Dr Vanessa Rowe. There are now 43 paid up members which reflects on the commitment and enthusiasm that Vanessa has engendered. She has a drive and energy which is gradually moulding us in to a unit and unearthing within us a greater sense of musicality. Additionally Michael Roberts has accepted the role of accompanist and is improving each week thus relieving us of what was a potential problem back in September.

Our first performance under the new regime was at the recent Civic Service in Newton Abbot where the choir invited to sing two items. We were well received by not just locals but several dignitaries from around the County. In the coming weeks we shall be singing at the Village Concert and also leading a Christmas Concert for the village at the Church. Our intention is to move forward in the New Year with a programme of music to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a public performance in the late spring/early summer in the village.

Of course there is little point to the choir unless we have an audience to listen to us so you are invited to come to the Christmas concert.
