42 French visitors arrived in the village on Thursday the 13th May!

This huge number of visitors was 50% up on the usual number of people who have chosen to visit us in the past through the auspices of our Twinned Towns arrangement with Le Pre D'Auge et Les Monceaux in Normandy.

Many close friendships have been built up through this annual pilgrimage between our two towns and many more visits have taken place outside the formal annual visit - one year from there to here, and the other from here to there.

In planning for this number of visitors, our logistical expertise was stretched somewhat in finding enough beds for them, and working out how to feed and entertain them along with the generous Abbotskerwellians who have offered to host them. Nevertheless, we had a fun time with them, with a full day's outing followed by a Safari Supper on the Friday, and informal time with the hosts and a dinner for around 100 people in the village hall on the Saturday. See here for some pictures of the evening event.

A huge amount of wine was presented to the twinning association. We will enjoy drinking their health over the coming months! We were delighted to present them with two trees to plant in each of the French villages, below is a picture of one of the tree planting ceremonies with the President Odile making a speech.
