Scarecrows!

Fifty three entries for the Scarecrow competition have been entered this year in Abbotskerswell and are on display from the 1st July. If you want to see them all, there is a Viewing Trail being launched at the Village Fete on July 10th - copies available from the Model Stores and presentations will be made at the Garden Show on August 7th. Thanks to Viv Bell for organising it again this year and for the workshops that she has been running. Click below to see just a few examples selected at ramdom
Black Bess - Morris Side

A ladies Morris Side called Black Bess pulls together dancers and musicians from the three wells - Abbotskerswell, Kingskerswell and Coffinswell. They raise money through collections for charities. See their Website here
31st Annual Garden show

On Saturday 7th August 2010 the 31st Annual Garden show takes place in Abbotskerswell Village Hall.
All exhibits are to be in the Hall by 09:30am and Exhibitors must leave the Hall by 10:00am. Judging will start at 10:30am and the Show opens at 2:30pm. Admission is 50p for adults and 20p for Children.

Clubs and events in Abbotskerswell

There are many activities, clubs and events that take place in the village such as Football, Netball, Handbell Ringing, Church Bell Ringing and Yoga to name but a few.
We are really keen to get space here on the village website for these. If you are the organiser of these events, please make contact with the administrator of the website through the contacts page as we can set you up as a contributor or arrange for your copy to be put here.

42 French visitors arrived in the village on Thursday the 13th May!
This huge number of visitors was 50% up on the usual number of people who have chosen to visit us in the past through the auspices of our Twinned Towns arrangement with Le Pre D'Auge et Les Monceaux in Normandy.
Abbotskerswell Open Gardens

Abbotskerswell took part in the National Gardens Scheme Open Gardens Event for the third year running.
On Saturday and Sunday 29/30 May, ten gardens around the village were open from 1.00 to 5.00 pm each day. The event raised over £3,000 for local charities.
Twinning Association

AbbTalk - village magazine

Our monthly village magazine, Abbtalk is distributed free to all residents and copies are also available from the Model Stores. The two pubs, the Court Farm Inn and the Butchers Arms often have copies for picking up.
Cricket Club

We have a thriving cricket club which plays well above the level that you would imagine for a village the size of Abbotskerswell.
