The Parish Council (consisting of 8 elected residents) meets monthly, usually the last Monday in the month. Abbotskerswell also has a District Councillor (Teignbridge District Council) as well as the services of a County Councillor (Devon County Council.).

Items of current concern to the Parish Council include:

  • Reduce speed limit in village to 20 mph; road safety measures around school; continuation of footway along A381
  • Reducing expenditure by collaborating with other Parish Councils
  • Replacement of equipment at childrens play area and additional items
  • Ensuring that roadways and footpaths are in good order in liaison with Devon Highways
  • Updating this website so that it is a valuable source of information for parishioners and visitors

Abbotskerswell belongs to the Parish Paths Partnership, an agreement with the County Council to look after the public rights of way in the village. We have 10 public rights of way and our Footpath Co-ordinator, Cllr David Munden, can be contacted by Email via the contact for the Parish Council.

The Parish Council also has an Emergency Plan which is operated by the Emergency Planning Team. Information on the Plan can be obtained from the Chairman of the Team. See the contacts list.

If you would like to contact the Parish Council, email the Parish Clerk via the contact for the Parish Council. See the contacts list.
