The amazing Abbotskerswell Fireworks night was on Saturday the 4 November 2017. The gate opened at 5.30 pm and fireworks got underway, after entertainment which included Fire Spinners, some time after 7.00pm.

Elements of Fire

Entry was £10 for families (two adults and two children), £2.00 for OAPs and £4.00 for Adults. Children under the age of 16 were £2.00.

People watching outside the gates and from Priory road were invited to make a donation. In all, over £1,000 was raised by the ARA, and another £1,000 by the school who ran the BBQ stall.

There were bonfires in oil drums, and the food stalls and refreshments were provided by Abbotskerswell PTFA, Pre-School and Orchard Deli. Sparklers and luminous necklaces were available to buy.

We asked folks not to bring their own Fireworks, the crowd was expected to be too large for this to be safe.

The ARA gate takings are used to pay for the following year's display, maintenance of the sports courts, pavilion, children's playground and other facilities as well as to give grants to village sports and other groups.

After completing the £130,000 sports courts in 2016 we had the safety surfaces around the playground renewed at a cost of over £6,000 in 2017. All of this comes from grants or fund-raising. The fireworks are our main fund-raising event for the playing fields and sports ground so all are encouraged to support this event annually.
