Parish Council

The Parish Council (consisting of 8 elected residents) meets monthly, usually the last Monday in the month. Abbotskerswell also has a District Councillor (Teignbridge District Council) as well as the services of a County Councillor (Devon County Council.).
Items of current concern to the Parish Council include:
The recently published draft Local Development Plan which includes a significant area of land for possible development between Abbotskerswell and Newton Abbot
Renovate and extend Parish Rooms to provide better community facilities and in particular an information technology suite
Reduce speed limit in village to 20 mph; road safety measures around school; continuation of footway along A381
Replacement of temporary classrooms at village school
Replacement of equipment at childrens play area and additional items.
Abbotskerswell belongs to the Parish Paths Partnership, an agreement with the County Council to look after the public rights of way in the village. We have 10 public rights of way and 0ur Footpath Co-ordinator, Cllr David Munden, can be contacted by Email at david@hootenwheals.co.uk
The Parish Council also has an Emergency Plan which is operated by the Emergency Planning Team. Information on the Plan can be obtained from the Chairman of the Team, liztaylor@publicriskmanagement.co.uk
