Abbotskerswell Pre-School meets in the Village Hall and provides a safe, happy and stimulating environment for children between the ages of 2 and 8 years. It is registered on the Early Years Register and can care for up to 26 children at any one time.
Opening hours during term time are week day mornings 9.15 to 12.15am with a lunch club from 12.15 to 1.15pm.
The Pre-School receives funding for the provision of free early education to children aged three and four years. It supports children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. It is privately owned and run by a committee of parents. (reg. charity no. 1038237).
The recent Ofsted report recognised the strengths of our setting:
We have a secure understanding of child protection issues a consistent staff team, and positive relationships with parents we offer an encouraging environment where learning is fun children's emotional well-being is supported extremely well an exciting and challenging range of resources are organised well to provide an inviting and engaging environment where children want to play and learn children are happy and settled in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere provided.
Over the last few years Abbotskerswell Primary School and Pre-School have been investigating the possibility of moving the Pre-School onto the School site. It is felt that this would be a very positive move for the children and will secure the futures of both the School and the Pre-School in a small rural community.
We have planning permission and are fundraising and hope to complete the project in 2013.
